just one word... once a day from the Owl (mood, internet and zesa dependent)
Today I have been feeling on “tenterhooks”, which, although mildly annoying, brought me quite nicely to my word for today. To explain the derivation of the word - a tenter is a frame over which cloth is stretched so as to prevent it shrinking while drying; hooks are used to hold the cloth in place.
Tenterhooks (adj.) - distracted by uncertainty, in a state of suspense, on the lookout, standing by.
Synonyms : expectant, tense, keyed up, tantalised.
