Twinmak Business Consultants’ mission is to provide high quality consultancy services on establishment, governance, management and administration of, as well as delivering graphic designing and printing services to, microfinance organisations that pursue excellence.



The company’s key objects are to:

Twinmak’s target market is the microfinance sector, locally, regionally and internationally. This sector is made up of credit only microfinance institutions, deposit-taking microfinance institutions (MFIs), savings and credit co-operative societies (SACCOs), government departments, parastatals and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that provide microfinance services, as well as other microfinance practitioners.

 The consultancy services offered by the company include the following:

 Establishment Support

The company promotes the establishment of microfinance institutions through public awareness and provision of guidelines to pre-registered/unregistered groups and newly registered organizations. It provides information on the various forms of microfinance institution, guidelines on how they are established, the business they are mandated to do and the legal requirements for their sustenance. This enables prospective and new entrants to adequately prepare and confidently run their operations. Twinmak Business Consultants also facilitates the registration processes of new microfinance institutions – as companies, private business corporations, private voluntary organisations or co-operative societies. The company prepares or facilitates the preparation of the following registration documents:

 ·         memoranda and articles of association (companies)

·         statements of incorporation (private business corporations)

·         constitutions (private voluntary organizations)

·         by-laws (co-operative societies)

In addition to the above, Twinmak facilitates product development and the compilation of marketing and operating manuals for its clients. The manuals include:

·         organizational profiles

·         operations manuals

·         human resources manuals

·         accounting manuals

·         codes of ethics and conduct

 Governance Support

When directors of institutions are appointed or elected to positions, more often than not, the attributes taken into account are other than their qualifications and/or experiences. Because of this, some directors are given responsibilities for which they neither have qualifications nor experiences. Twinmak prepares new directors by walking them through their common law and contractual duties and explaining how those duties should be performed. This enables the directors to identify their shortcomings and areas where they might need support.

Twinmak Business Consultants also helps its clients to comply with legal requirements, such as returns required by registrars, regulators and/or tax authorities. Twinmak either prepares and submits the returns on behalf of the client organizations or helps the personnel of the client organizations to prepare and submit the same so that the client organizations remain compliant.


Management Support

Managers are decision-makers whose actions directly influence the overall results of institutions’ business activities. Decision-making is often complex unless some independent, professional views are obtained prior to finalising the decisions. Twinmak provides support to management by giving professional and independent views on management initiatives and providing guidelines on the decision-making processes. The company also provides support in the development and utilization of management information systems and tools.


Administrative Support

Twinmak Business Consultants (Private) Limited provides accounting and other administrative services to microfinance institutions that have needs for such services. These services include loan processing and debt recovery. The company also has a graphic designing section that helps in the development and printing of marketing and administration materials. Graphic designing services include:

§  Designing and printing of calendars, banners, posters, business cards, identification cards and ledger cards

§  Designing and printing of invitation cards, anniversary cards and certificates

§  Designing, printing and binding of quotation books, invoice books, receipt books,  payment voucher books and passbooks

§  DVD/CD labelling


Twinmak’s training programmes include on-site for individual institutions and off-site for co-funded programmes. The topics covered include governance, management and administration matters. The time taken to complete training programmes varies by subject content, nature of training and cost implications.


System Monitoring and Evaluation

Twinmak Business Consultants provides monitoring and evaluation services, including audit, to its valued clients. At the end of each exercise, the company produces monitoring, evaluation and/or management reports that pinpoint key success factors and critical areas in need of attention. By referring to these reports, directors and managers of the client microfinance institutions are able to make decisions that improve the statuses of their respective institutions.
