Our Mission
To bring convenience and value to our customers, suppliers, employees and investors through the provision of fuel, farm produce, minerals and other products.
Our Values
At Maka, we embrace and appreciate those values in our culture that bring affluence to our people, clients and partners, and so we uphold them as part of our success. We are committed to these values in our decision-making and behavior:
• Team work - we support and promote diverse but united team work in order to meet our common goals
• Respect - we recognize and respect the rights and beliefs of our workmates, customers, our shareholders and the community. We treat others with dignity, equality and trust.
• Accountability - we take responsibility for our behavior and accept our individual and collective responsibilities and commitments
• Integrity - we deal honestly and uphold ethical standards that demonstrate fairness in everything we do.
• Innovation - we promote creativity in delivering value to our workmates, customers, shareholders and community
Our Culture
Maka people are diverse in age, ideas and experience. They come from varied backgrounds and we acknowledge this in our business culture, as we value the reward it brings - “True Knowledge”. The prevailing culture is flexible to promote growth.
We encourage interpersonal interactions to enable team members to understand each other's personal values and work roles.
We encourage individuals and teams to grab opportunities, develop new skills and utilize them positively. We promote their interests in the communities they live and cyclically realize reward in their responses of zeal and commitment.
Products and Service
The continued demand for fresh vegetables, Petrol, Diesel and Paraffin from both corporate and individual users drives the business.
Pricing
Our retail fuel prices are based on the industry-wide margin awarded by the Petroleum Companies, Sakunda Holdings being our principal supplier of both Petrol and Diesel with healthier margins for Paraffin as we import directly without use of a middleman. Bulk sales out of our Depot enjoy smaller margins, but with the higher volumes sold, this can be significant.
Place
We operate 2 retail outlets namely West End and Nketa 6 and also Plumtree Road Depot for bulk orders.
We have 18 road tankers of 40ton and 30ton carrying capacity and a 4ton rigid for smaller local deliveries of our fuel. This enables us to transport fuel quickly and efficiently from source to customer, no matter their order or location.
Promotion
Customer service training for Frontline staff is an ongoing process to continuously enforce service culture amongst staff. For bulk fuel, advertising in the mass media is a useful tool for capturing the market and will remain a significant, alongside personal selling.
People
Regular training of Frontline staff on customer care, product safety and product knowledge is conducted internally as well as by Sakunda Energy.
Processes
Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) have been oriented and implemented and are continuously monitored for compliance by all staff. Filing systems and control documents are also in operation and monitored. Continuous training encourages staff to follow regular routines and ensure our processes meet a high standard all the time.
Suppliers
Our principal supplier is Sakunda Holdings, the largest importer and wholesaler of fuel in Zimbabwe. Their strength in supply guarantees stable product supply that minimizes stock outs and gives opportunity for maximum throughput.
